Exploring Students’ Public Speaking Anxiety: Introvert vs Extrovert

This study aims to investigate whether students with introverted and extroverted personalities have significantly different levels of anxiety or not. involved 59 the English Education Study Program at one state universities in North Sumatra. Samples were taken randomly from five classes sixth semester who took Public Speaking course. Semi-structured technique was used data collection. The processed by using two methods; statistical calculations for quantitative related results filling out questionnaires regarding their level when doing public speaking which consists 17 questions, as well substantive analysis qualitative comparison responses respondents. shows that 31.03% introvert having high anxiety, followed 68.97% possessing moderate anxiety. In contrary, 13.33% extrovert 86.67% them biggest respondents is context “my heart pounds I give a speech”, where averagely 4.03 3.03. There are numerous suggestion educators can use overcome issues.
